FRS Network (Farm Relief Services) have been exhibiting at the Ploughing for the past 30 years and this year have a host of  agri-focused initiatives and launches to attract the interests of farmers  and more importantly help improve their working lives. The theme of the FRS stand is all about ‘Harvesting’ and how farmers can harvest with FRS now and into the future.

FRS is the stand to go to for information and advice from leading    industry experts. The topics of Fodder Management, CAP Reform, Expansion and Finance will be presented by speakers such as John Donworth of Teagasc, Peter Young of the Farmers Journal, Mairead McGuinness  MEP, Tom Hayes, Jnr.Minister for Agriculture, Pat Dillon of Teagasc, Matt Dempsey, Former Editor of the Farmers Journal.

FRS are launching a series of new innovate products, membership benefits and services at the Ploughing.

Northern Ireland Tourist Board Exhibit

The Northern Ireland Tourist Board have again arranged to exhibit at the National Ploughing Championships for 2013. Representatives from various parts of the Province will be on hand to help you plan your next break in Northern Ireland including promotional offers from Derry~Londonderry, Titanic Belfast, Fermanagh and Newry and Mourne. Come along to the NITB stand to be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes!

It is a legenderry year with a huge programme of events in Derry~Londonderry as the Maiden City hosts the first ever UK City of Culture. The year-long programme will bring an outpouring of cultural activity to venues across the city. Host to the G8 Summit in June, Fermanagh is the county famous for its breathtaking Lakelands, rugged landscape and wealth of historic sites; the perfect place for Irish holidaymakers to visit this summer.

Stunning landscapes, charming villages, bustling towns and an exciting city- all to be found in the Newry and Mourne area while just a few miles up the road is the £97 million visitor attraction; the Titanic Belfast, an unmissable visit in any tour of Northern Ireland. We will have a mountain bike simulator on our stand giving visitors the chance to experience bike trails and the ability to win a mountain bike day out in NI. We will also be running a separate competition through onsite iPads whilst promoting tourist attractions and events over the coming months.

“Visit Macra na Feirme on Row T, Stand Number 325, Block 3 at the National Ploughing Championships! Macra is the only voice for young farmers in Ireland and we’ll be there to talk CAP, succession and land transfer as well as competitions, travel and having a great social life!

We have a hive of activity planned again this year! We will be launching our Macra Gathering ‘Night at the Dogs’ on Tuesday, the 24th September at the Macra stand- come along to find out more about the Gathering taking place on the 30th November.

With so many competitions, festivals and events, Macra always has a lot to show at the Ploughing stand, whether it’s sports you’re interested in or you fancy yourself as the next FBD Young Farmer of the Year! We’re happy to have a chat with you about how you can get involved and maybe you’ll be attending the Macra stand next year as one of the many winners who visit us over the three days.

Macra will host our annual “Macra Ploughing Class” in association with the National Ploughing Association. County rounds have been taking place throughout the country for the last few months and those winners will be going through to the final taking place at the prestigious NPA Championships.

Visitors to the stand will be entered in a free draw for the DeLaval FMC60, (Farm Monitoring Camera). This can be set-up in minutes, has a range of up to 1000 meters. An infra-red, night vision lamp NVL120, can also be installed. It can also be connected to the internet and you can view images on your smartphone.

New Dairy Hygiene Products Launch

DeLaval is launching a new range of dairy hygiene products at the National Ploughing Championship. These include Opticid Plus which can be used for descaling and regular cleaning of milking equipment to remove mineral deposits. This product is based on nitric and phosphoric acid.

Other new products are RX 5000 -Clean (chlorine free) and RX 5000-San powder detergents which can be used to clean and sanitise dairy equipment. Both products are based on sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide for use in cold or hot washes. All products are available in 12 and 20 Kg drums.

Hi Tech Automated Milking Systems

Dairy farmers with larger herds or those looking to expand production after milk quotas are abolished can discuss future options such as the DeLaval VMS (voluntary milking system) and AMR (automated rotary parlour and EuroTier Gold Medal award winner) with experts on large milking plants.

The VMS(tm)system has been shown to work well on grassland systems In Britain, EU & New Zealand. There are also a number of VMS systems working in Northern Ireland.  It was awarded “Agricultural Machine of the Year 2010” at the Agrotech agricultural trade fair in Poland.

The DeLaval VMS is equipped with one milk meter for each quarter to record time, yield, flow, conductivity and blood. The IT software gives access to the status of each cow. A VMS unit will be on display on the DeLaval stand.

Each teat is individually cleaned with warm water and air, then stimulated, pre-milked and dried before milking. Only a few seconds are needed for optimum teat sanitation which results in high milk quality and better milking capacity.

There will also be a range of user friendly Cow Comfort products on display such as the popular DeLaval “swinging” cow brush -a self-grooming device that keeps cows happier, healthier and more productive* . It has been proven to increase of milk production and to reduce mastitis.

ID High Cell Counts within 45 Seconds

Milk producers with high cell counts can check out a reliable cell counter (DCC) for mastitis diagnostics on the DeLaval stand. This lightweight portable instrument can give you the result within 45 seconds. It can be used for instant and accurate bulk tank analysis, cow or quarter level milk samples.

According to Steve Sefton, “Early detection results in increased curing rates, quicker recovery, minimal milk losses and reduces the spread of mastitis- the most costly disease in dairy herds”. Since DeLaval launched the DeLaval cell counter it has won numerous awards**.
