Kildare County Council (Kildare Road Safety) has been at the forefront of road safety in County Kildare for the past number of years. In addition to visiting schools and businesses, the road safety officer attends all major events and festivals throughout the county, promoting road safety awareness and highlighting the risks and consequences of dangerous or inappropriate driving behaviour.

The Kildare Road Safety stand will be at the National Ploughing Championships once again this year, providing road safety advice, resources and material. Visitors can also see our Driving Simulator, Car Brake Reaction tester and road safety demonstrations or play the ‘Beer Goggles’ game. We will also demonstrate the safe and correct way to fit a child car seat in a car, and for cyclists, we will demonstrate safer cycling tips and help you maintain your bicycle.

Kildare Road Safety will provide high visibility vests to Adults and children, of which the proceeds of €2 or more will be donated to the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dun Laoighre. Last year, over €7,000 was raised by Kildare Road Safety from donations received from the provision of high visibility vest.

Kildare County Council actively and continuously promotes road safety to the thousands of people travelling to the event. This includes radio adverts and important notices in the local press. Our facebook, twitter and website is continuously being updated with road safety information.
